1 Thessalonians 2:16-17

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord:

I Want To Be an Ostrich

There are days I would love to be like an ostrich, just stick my head in the sand. I would love to just sit back, watch TV, eat, drink and be merry.

I have been fascinated in end times prophecy since I was saved back in the '60s. (Yes, I am THAT old.) There was so much I didn't understand at the time, but it was fun speculating. I vaguely remember the Yom Kipper war in 1967, when Jerusalem was reclaimed. I didn't understand much about it but I knew it was important.

The only news we had back then was either TV, newspapers, or magazines. News didn't travel very fast and, unless you had a preacher who understood end times prophecy, it was difficult to know what was going on.

Then came the internet and cable TV.

“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” Daniel 12:4 (NKJV)

I love the internet. I love being able to hear about the news pretty much as it happens. I can hear from people across the country and across the world. I can download music, watch movies, and keep up with sports scores as it happens.

But like I said, my main focus has always been the end times and what God is trying to tell me.  Here are some recent headlines.

And this doesn't even consider what is happening in and around Israel or all of the Christians who are currently being persecuted around the world. I guess you could call what I sometimes feel -  sensory overload.
Now I do my best in keeping up with what is going on in the world, however, it is getting more and more difficult. There is so much coming in at one time it seems, that I just feel like shutting everything off and hibernating until things get better.
But the problem is, things are not going to get better. Things are going to get worse, much worse. The Bible tells us this, and with all the prophecies that have been written in the Bible, the Word of God hasn't been wrong yet.
So I have decided that I'm not going to be an ostrich.
1 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from their territory and make him their watchman, 3 when he sees the sword coming upon the land, if he blows the trumpet and warns the people, 4 then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be on his own head. 5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, but did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning will save his life. 6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’7 “So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me. Ezekiel 33:1-7 (NKJV)
I have read these words many times, but the last time I read them, I shuddered. I'm no prophet and I will never claim to be one. But I can understand what is going on. I've read the last page of God's Book, so I know how it ends. God has blessed me with a little corner of the wall so I can stand and shout out the warning. And I will stand my little corner of the wall as long as God allows or until He takes me home.
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12 (NKJV)
Our Lord Jesus is coming again, just like He said he would.
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Revelation 22:20 (NKJV)

God willing, until next time

  1. Loved your post yesterday, but the death of so many animals saddens me, almost to tears, especially the birds. I think we're definitely in for some rough days ahead because it's been proven that the north pole is shifting 25 miles into Russia (forget whether it's annually or what)and has shifted enough to cause one airport to remark it's runways. Imagine the poor birds who can't reset their internal magnetic systems to accomodate the changes will go throuh for a while.
