1 Thessalonians 2:16-17

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord:

Danger, Will Robinson, Danger

Many of you who are my age will remember a TV show called Lost in Space. The basic premise of this show was about a family with the last name of Robinson and a mischievous (think evil) doctor, on a space ship, who flew off course and ended up being lost in space. The one character I really liked was the robot. He was always flapping his arms and yelling a warning or danger. Most of the time this warning was directed towards the young boy, named Will, who was always getting into trouble. And most of the time, he didn't listen.

This is the situation that I find myself in, the role of the robot. It seems that everyone, no matter how bad things are getting, still believe that everything will get better. That feeling has been called the normalcy bias: just because a catastrophe never has occurred, it never will. People judge their future according to how things have been in the past.

3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 2 Peter 3:3-4 (NKJV)

Lets look at Germany in 1935. 100,000 Jews had left Germany, but 450,000 stayed behind, hoping that the worst was behind them. Hitler was just blowing hot air. They were comfortable. They and their families had been there for many years, some for generations. They had their lives and their businesses. But things happened faster than they could react. As a result, six million Jews were slaughtered.

And take a look at Hurricane Katrina. The levees had never failed before. Even when they heard that the levee system was collapsing, they still chose not to leave. As a result almost 2,000 people died.

So what is my point? Because we've never had famine, nuclear emergencies, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions on a global scale, people assume these disasters will never happen. Most of the same people believe that there is a God, yet they refuse to believe the dire predictions made by Him. They see God as the loving, benevolent father who takes care of His children. The One we thank our food for. The One we say our goodnight prayers to. But they forget about his judgements.

Time is short folks. There will be a time of trouble that no one on Earth has ever seen.

For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. Matthew 24:21 (NKJV)

So when is all of this coming? Honestly, I don't know. It could be today, next week, next year, but I feel it will be soon. You need to decide now what your choice is going to be. Even if God does tarry and we have a little more time, who's to say you'll have tomorrow. Who's to say you won't get hit by a truck, or have a heart attack. At that point, it will be too late to decide.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 (NKJV)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NKJV)

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 (NKJV)

And for those of you who are safe in the arms of Jesus, I pray that you don't panic or have any fear for the future. Our God is still on the throne and in control.

Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near. Luke 21:28 (NKJV)

God willing, until next time
